Thattekkad is located in Ernakulam district of Kerala on the north bank of River Periyar. It is home to the bird sanctuary named after the ornithologist Dr. Salim Ali. Late afternoon you set out on your birding tour to the bird sanctuary which is home to various migratory and resident birds. It houses some of the rarest species of Indian birds. Enjoy Boating, Trekking, Mountain Biking, Elephant Training Centre Visit, Jeep Safari, etc. After dinner, stay overnight at the hotel.

The rare birds found in this sanctuary are herons, egrets, darters, kingfishers and the great Malabar grey hornbill. Reptiles like Cobras, Vipers, Kraits, monster lizards and even pythons are found in this park. Boat ride on Periyar Lake, explore the wildlife. Afternoon you visit the spice and tea plantations and Kumily spice shopping centers. Evening you can experience an ayurveda massage therapy at the Thekkady hotel.
