Important Places to Visit in Chennai:

Marina Beach: it is one of the most beautiful Chennai beaches. It is a 12 km walk and is spread up to 300 meters and has soft sandy shores.

Edward Elliot Beach: it is along the coast drive from Marina and also known as the Night beach.

Breezy Beach: This beach is located in Valmiki nagar and much peaceful than the other beaches as it is less commercialized.

Basilica of the National Shrine of St. Thomas: This church is built over the tomb of one of the apostles of Jesus, St. Thomas. In the whole world there are only three such churches.

St. Mary’s Church: It is one of the oldest churches built by the British in India. It has exquisite architecture and some good sculpture work.

St. Thomas Mount: This church is also referred in the bible as Didymus in the gospel of St. Thomas, one of the major apostles of Jesus.

Big mosque: this mosque is built on Walajah Road in Chennai and was built by the Walajah family in memory of Nawab Mohammad Ali Walajah.

The Parthasarathy Temple : It is one of the oldest temples in Chennai and dates back to the 8th century A.D.

Shri Ramakrishna Math Universal temple Built by Swami Vivekananda to spread the teachings of Ramakrishna Paramhans.

Valluvar Kottam: it is a memorial in memory of a renowned poet and saint of Chennai.

The Vandalur Zoo: the zoological garden has abundance of many animal species.

Government Museum:it is spread over 16 acres and has many sections where you will find artifacts and historical things from the past.

Birla Planetarium: It is the most modern planetarium in India.

Best time to visit Chennai: The ideal time to visit Chennai is between November to February. At this time the weather is neither too hot nor too cold. The winters are less chilly due to its coastal location. The humidity is also in control at this time. Therefore, it is preferable to visit Chennai at this time of the year in the winter season.

How to reach Chennai Chennai has the Chennai International Airport which is the third busiest airport in India after Mumbai and Delhi. This airport caters to both international as well as domestic flights. This airport connects Chennai to major destinations all around the world.
