In this North India Tour by Train, we offer you both the opportunities. Detailed Itinerary is explained below:
Day 01 :
Arrive at Delhi
Arrive at Delhi International Airport. After immigration formalities, our driver shall pick you up and you will be transferred to your hotel. Overnight stay in your hotel in Delhi.
Day 02 :
Start Delhi Sightseeing with some paramount buildings, including the Parliament House, Rashtrapati Bhavan and the India Gate. Spend some time at India Gate and click a few pictures.
Later, we will reach the National Rail Museum, located in South Delhi. Inaugurated on 1st February 1977, the museum houses the history and belongings of Indian Railway. You will everything related to Indian Rails here, the coaches, engines, cranes, locomotives, turn table and much more. There is also a toy train that allows you to enjoy a short ride. Later, return to your hotel for overnight stay.
Day 03 :
Delhi to Amritsar by Train
Check out from your hotel, and our driver will transfer you at New Delhi Railway Station. Catch Shatabdi Express for Amritsar. The train leaves at 0720 hrs from Delhi and reaches Amritsar at 1340 hrs. Upon arrival, check into your hotel and spend some time in leisure.
In evening, we shall visit the Golden Temple. Noted as one of the most remarkable and beautiful temples in India, the Golden Temple is prominent for many reasons. It is the holiest shrine for the Sikh community. However, the temple is a popular attraction for people from all religious beliefs.
Day 04 :
The day starts with a visit to Durgiana Temple, an important Hindu temple located in Amritsar. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Durga. After that, visit Jallianwala Bagh, a historical site that played a crucial role in the freedom fight of India. It is the place where thousands of people were massacred by British General Dyer on 13th April 1919. Enroute to your hotel, revisit the Golden Temple to attend evening ceremonies.
Later, visit the Wagah Border, the border between India and Pakistan. Enjoy the Flag Lowering Ceremony at sunset. Return to your hotel for an overnight stay.
Day 05 :
Amritsar to Chandigarh
Early morning, check out from your hotel and drive towards Chandigarh, the capital city of the Indian states of Punjab and Haryana. Chandigarh is known as the cleanest cities and is the first 'planned city' in India.
Upon arrival, check into your hotel and spend some time in leisure. Afternoon, we shall start a sightseeing tour of Chandigarh.
Start your journey with an outside view of the Secretariat, Legislative Assembly and the High Court buildings. Later visit the famous Rock Garden, one of the most beautiful gardens in India. The garden is known for beautiful rock statues. After that, we shall visit the Sukhna Lake, a rain-fed lake built in 1958. After visiting these places, return to your hotel for an overnight stay.
Day 06 :
Chandigarh to Shimla via Kalka
Travel from Chandigarh to Kalka in a car. From Kalka, catch Himalayan Queenis, a toy train for Shimla. Enjoy the mountainous journey in your train ride. The 96km route passes through 105 tunnels and 835 bridges, and completes in 5 hours.
Upon arrival to Shimla, check into your hotel. Spend rest of your day and night in hotel room.
Day 07 :
Take a heritage walk of Shimla in the morning. There are many places to explore, such as the Indian Institute of Advanced Studies, Shimla Club, Hotel Oberoi Clarkes, Gaiety Theatre, The Mall, The Ridge, Gorton Castle and State Museum of Himachal.
Rest of the day is free for leisure or your own activities. Overnight stay in your hotel in Shimla.
Day 08 :
Visit Jakhoo Hill, a temple dedicated to Lord Hanuman. Spend some time in exploring local attractions in Shimla.
After this, drive to Mashobra, a place beautifully decorated by pine and Oakwood trees. Other destinations to explore are Kufri and Naldhera, both are known for their picturesque beauty.
Spend rest of the day in your own activities.
Day 09 :
Shimla to Delhi via Kalka
Drive from Shimla to Kalka in a car. From Kalka, catch a train for New Delhi. Upon arrival to New Delhi, you will be transferred to your hotel for an overnight stay.
Day 10 :
Today, we shall explore some historical sites in Old Delhi. The journey includes Jama Masjid (the largest mosque in India), Chandni Chowk and Red Fort. After exploring these places, return to your hotel for overnight stay.
Day 11 :
Delhi to Varanasi
Half of your day is spent in leisure in your hotel. In evening, we shall transfer you to New Delhi Railway Station to catch your train for Varanasi. Your night is spent in the train. Dinner and morning breakfast will be served in train.
Day 12 :
Reach Varanasi early in the morning and get transferred to your hotel. After some rest, start a sightseeing of Varanasi. We shall visit Sarnath, a renowned Buddhist centre. This is the place where Lord Buddha delivered his first sermon after achieving enlightenment at Bodhgaya.
While returning from Sarnath, visit the Ghats to enjoy the evening Aarti ceremony. The Ganga Aarti is a spectacular sight with thousands of devotees offering their prayers in sync.
Later, return to your hotel for an overnight stay.
Day 13 :
Varanasi to Agra
Early morning, enjoy a boat ride on the holy river Ganga. Also visit some temples located on the Ghats and other areas of Varanasi. We shall also visit the Bharat Kala Bhavan located in the premise of Baranas Hindu University. The place has innumerable sculptures, paintings and textiles depicting ancient Indian art.
In the evening, you will be transferred to Varanasi Railway Station. Catch your train to Agra. Dinner and overnight stay in the train.
Day 14 :
Reach Agra early in the morning, and get transferred to your hotel.
After spending some time in leisure, we shall start a sightseeing tour of Agra. The journey starts with Fatehpur Sikri, an ancient town located 38km from Agra. The town was established by Mughal Emperor Akbar and served as the capital of the Mughal Empire. Today, only the remains of ancient buildings are located there.
Later, return to Agra and visit the Symbol of Love. Counted among the Seven Wonders of the World, Taj Mahal is perhaps the most beautiful monument in the whole world. The monument was built by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his deceased wife Mumtaj Mahal. The symmetrical building is a treat to eyes from all corners.
Nearby located is the Agra Fort, a massive fort that remained the capital of the Mughals. The fort now serves as a museum housing innumerable belongings of the erstwhile rulers.
After visiting these places, return to your hotel for an overnight stay.
Day 15 :
Agra to Delhi and Departure
On the last day of North India Tour by Train, check out from your hotel and drive to Delhi. Upon arrival to Delhi, we shall transfer you to Indira Gandhi International Airport from where you may catch your flight back home.
