Day 01 :
Arrival at Cochin (International Flight)
The journey will begin with your arrival at the Cochin's International Airport. After going through the formalities of customs, immigration followed by baggage collection, our representative will meet you as soon as you exit the Arrivals Terminal building. You will then be escorted by him to the hotel where you will check in.
Kochi also has other name as Cochin which is its colonial name. Kochi is a very awesome city full of hues and life and is situated on the south-west coast of the Indian Peninsula. This city of Kerala has a stunning aesthetic appeal and an awesome scenic beauty. That is why it is even christened as "God's Own Country". The city is surrounded by Arabian Sea and hence it has a strategic importance over the other cities from centuries. Cochin or Kochi is also given another interesting name as 'Gateway to Kerala'.
The rest of the day is spent for relaxation so that you may freshen up and overcome jetlag and can undertake any other independent activities. You will have an overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 02 :
After a delicious breakfast you will be proceeding to have half day sightseeing tour of the whole Cochin city. The city tour will start with the visit to Mattancherry which is one of the oldest Jewish Synagogue in India which was built in 1568 (Closed on Fridays, Saturdays and all the Jewish Holidays). It was destroyed by the Portuguese and then was further rebuilt by the Dutch. Then you will be visiting the historic Dutch Palace which was built around 1555. The coronation halls and murals of Ramayana are a worthy characteristic of this place which is very grand. Then your next destination would be the St. Francis Church which was initially named after Santo Antonio who was declared as the Patron Saint of Portugal. St. Francis Church is the first Church in India which is in the influence of the new European tradition. The old wooden building has now been replaced with a stone building presently. Vasco de Gama died in this particular site in the year of 1524 and was originally believed to be buried in this particular cemetery. After 14 years later his body was said to be removed and transported to Portugal. Further this church was renamed to St. Francis in the year of 1663.
After that in the evening you will be taken to a very vibrant and interesting place, a Kathakali dance centre where you will become the witness of the different graceful dance forms in the southern India. You will experience the interesting phenomenon where artists will be readying themselves with the make up for their final performance. Kerala has a unique transnational fame which is approximately 300 years old because of this old classical dance form. This dance forms are the perfect fusion of ballet, opera, masque and the pantomime. It is believed that this dance form has been evolved from other performing arts like Krishnanattam, Kootiyattam and Kalarippayattu. Kathakali elaborates and explicates ideas and stories from the grandeur of Indian epics and Puranas. This dance form is usually presented in the precincts of temples usually after dusk. Kathakali is also heralded by the Kelikottu or the beating of drums along with the accompaniment of the gong or the Chengila.
You will then stay overnight at the hotel.
Day 03 :
Cochin- Munnar [Surface: 135 kms/ 5 hrs]
After an awesome breakfast you will be driven and escorted from Cochin to Munnar. After the arrival you will proceed for checking in at your hotel. After that you will enjoy the beautiful city of Munnar where you will enjoy beautiful and important sights and also visit tea factory. This will be a memorable experience which you will enjoy thoroughly.
You will then be staying overnight at the hotel.
Day 04 :
Munnar - Thekkady [Surface: 125 kms / 04:30 hrs]
In the morning you will have a delectable breakfast and you will be driven to Thekkady from Munnar. After arriving in this city we will check in at a hotel. After relaxing a little in the hotel you will be taken for a boat ride in the Lake Periyar.
The Periyar Lake is at the heart of the sanctuary and it is as dreamy as paradise for all the wildlife lovers. This is a place situated enclosed by the Western Ghats which is in the Indian state of Kerala. Periyar National Park and the Tiger Reserve are an awe inspiring and beautiful wildlife parks in the world. Periyar national park which has beautiful scenic attractions like the joyful pachyderms which roam around freely with their family and friends and their total population is around 800. Here the population of tigers has also seen a considerable increase which is noteworthy. The landscape is very interesting and varying which have hilly to flat grasslands at the corner of the lakes. The vegetation here is moist and deciduous. In the afternoon we will enjoy the boat ride in the Lake Periyar. This is followed by the overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 05 :
After having a sumptuous breakfast at the hotel and after that we will be visiting a spice plantation. After that you will be demonstrated how to grow some spices. After that you can spent the rest of the day in relaxation and can explore the local area on your own. This will be enjoyed by you thoroughly. You will be staying overnight at the hotel.
Day 06 :
Thekkady - Alleppey
You will be provided a buffet breakfast at the hotel. Later you will be taken to the Alleppey Jetty point where you will be embarking on a house boat for staying overnight. After that you will be thoroughly enjoying the lunch on house boat.
After that you will be disembarking the house boat and after that you can be driven back to Cochin. After that you will be checking in at a hotel and will be staying overnight at the hotel.
Day 07 :
Alleppey - Kumarakom [By Houseboat]
After having breakfast at the hotel and after that you will be dropped at your hotel in Kumarakom. After that you will be thrilled to see the lush backwaters of the Kottayam in Kerala which is like an explicit paradise. That is why this place is called Kumarakom or the 'Venice of the East'.
The beautiful palm fringed narrow canals which are spreading through the vast expanse of the luscious paddy fields. The small, tiny and clean hamlets which are lined on the sides of the canals are sights of paramount beauty. Kumarakom is a place full of awesome lagoons, palmfringed lakes, and luscious paddy fields which are inter-linked with numerous winding canals. The low slung and typical local boats that are known to carry everything from rice, fish, people and coconuts are intriguing. Even milkman, newspaper boys, local politicians are transported via these boats and even carry priests to wedding parties.
Rest of the day can be taken for relaxing and resting. You can then stay overnight at the hotel.
Day 08 :
Kumarakom - Cochin Depart
Breakfast is at the hotel.
You will then be served breakfast at the hotel. Then according to your time you will then be transferred to the Cochin airport for your flight back home. You can also further take a beach extension tour in Kovalam.
