Day 01 :
Arrival in Cochin
On the first day of the journey, arrive at Cochin International Airport. From here, you are transferred to your hotel. Rest of your day is spent in leisure in your hotel room.
Day 02 :
After enjoying a healthy breakfast in your hotel, proceed for a sightseeing tour to Cochin. The journey starts with Mattancherry that houses the oldest Jewish Synagogue. Built in 1568, the Synagogue was destroyed by the Portuguese and later rebuilt by the Dutch. Nearby located is the Dutch Palace, built by the Dutch in 1555. St. Francis Church is our next destination, a beautiful church built in the European style of architecture. This is also the cremation place of legendry traveler Vasco De Gamma.
In the evening, we shall visit the Kathakali Dance Center to know this popular dance style. Kerala is globally famous for this beautiful dance style and has preserved it for more than 300 years. Kathakali is a dance style in which the performers tell a story through their dance moves and expressions. Watching dozens dancers moving in sync is a treat to eyes.
After visiting these attractions, return to your hotel for overnight stay.
Day 03 :
Cochin to Alleppey (60km, 02 hrs Drive)
Early morning, leave your hotel and drive for Alleppey. Also known as Alappuzha, Alleppey is a beautiful city surrounded by lush-green mountains. The biggest attraction of Alleppey is the water cruises and house boats. Due to its natural ambience, Alleppey is also known as the Venice of the East.
Ride a traditional Kettuvallam (houseboat) and enjoy a cruise on the sea. After spending a couple of hours on the houseboat, stop by a typical Kerala Village to see their lifestyle, green paddy fields and coconut trees. You may also enjoy a traditional food in a house in the village. Overnight stay on the houseboat.
Day 04 :
Alleppey to Thekkady (140Km, 5Hrs Drive)
After breakfast, drive to Thekkady. The name of this town represents elephants, hills and spice plants. Thekkady also has one of the finest wildlife reserves in India. The lush green area of this town will mesmerize you right away.
Upon arrival, check into your hotel and spend your day in leisure. In evening, we shall go out to enjoy the Kalaripayattu show. Overnight stay will be arranged in your hotel.
Day 05 :
Early morning, go out to enjoy a boat ride on Lake Periyar. The lake lies between the Periyar Tiger Reserve and National Park. Taking a boat ride is the only way to explore the park, but you get to enjoy two attractions at once. The park provides shelter to large verity of wildlife including gaur, elephant, wild pig, sambar, deer and lion-tailed macaque. You may also witness different species of birds chirping in the park.
After the safari, enjoy a walk through the spice plantation. In evening, return to your hotel.
Day 06 :
Thekkady to Madurai (140Kms, 04Hrs Drive)
Early morning, check out from your hotel and drive towards Madurai. Upon arrival, check into your hotel.
Madurai is a complete package for tourists. It has centuries old history, remarkable monuments, religious places and lush greenery. We will start exploring the city next day. Today, you are free to spend your day in leisure.
Day 07 :
Our sightseeing starts with Meenakshi Temple, one of the finest temples in India. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Meenakshi, the consort of Lord Shiva. Along with being a place of high religious value, the temple is also a superb piece of architecture.
Next destination is the Thirumalai Nayaka Palace. Built in 1636, the palace boasts beautiful blend of Indo-Mughal style. The palace has an armory, a theatre, royal quarter and a shrine. However, today, only a few sections are present in the palace. The beautiful artwork and sculptures are worth exploring.
In evening, we shall revisit the Meenakshi Temple to attend the night ceremony. The entire atmosphere at this time becomes hypnotic. After attending the ceremony, return to your hotel for overnight stay.
Day 08 :
Madurai to Munnar (160Km, 5Hrs Drive)
Post breakfast, check out from your hotel and drive towards Munnar. The beautiful town is indeed a nature-lover's paradise. Located amidst panoramic views and mountains, Munnar presents the best of natural elegance in India.
Upon arrival to Munnar, spend your day in local sightseeing. Overnight stay would be arranged in a resort.
Day 09 :
Munnar to Cochin (135Km, 4 Hrs Drive)
After breakfast, enjoy a walk in the tea factory and plantations.
Later, we shall drive back to Cochin. Upon arrival, check into your hotel. Rest of the day is spent in leisure.
Day 10 :
On the last day of Best of Kerala with Madurai tour, you shall be transferred to Cochin International Airport to catch your flight back home or next destination.
